The group Optical System Design was installed at the IAP in 2012 on 'Theory of Optical Systems'.
Today, Prof. Dr. Vladan Blahnik is building up the group after Prof. Dr. Herbert Gross retires in 2022. Emphasis lies on the exploration of fundamentals in optical system design and collaboration with partners in research and industry on various applications that require sophisticated optical systems and their modeling.
