Projects

  • traceback of neutron stars and runaway stars to find evidence for supernovae in binaries, partly as origin for the 60-Fe found on Earth
  • search for High-Mass X-ray Binaries within a few hundred pc (also as evidence for nearby recent SNe and 60-Fe)
  • search for runaway stars in supernova remnants and around star clusters
  • expansion of nova shells and supernova remnants

Software

Net-PSICoNS is a web tool to perform population synthesis of close-by isolated cooling neutron stars (NSs). The tool is described in Boldin, Popov & Tetzlaff 2011, AN 332, 122Externer Link. It is based on the population model by Popov et al. 2010, MNRAS 401, 2675Externer Link.

Recent highlights

  • First example, where a runaway star and a neutron star can both be traced back to the geometric center of a supernova remnant: S147 (Dincel et al. 2015Externer Link)
  • First example, where a runaway star and a neutron star can both be traced back to have been at the same time at the same location - ejected from a recent (ca. 1 Myr) supernova in a binary within 120 pc: zeta Oph and PSR B1706−16 (Neuhäuser et al. 2020Externer Link)
